Gnome or KDE
I was just having a look at Gnome and KDE as I am thinking of trying *nix on the desktop (currently in use on both server and laptop). I like the look of Gnome, although I've never used either all that much.
What do people like, and why?

Nah, I think it feels faster, and apps (though obviously not Qt apps) seem to generally launch faster. For a real-world example, I'd point you to Bluefish
Aside from that, there appears to be less trying-to-feel-like-Windows (by default), though it's a lot more similar now than a few years ago (but KDE has that, too) -- especially under Ubuntu, Gnome "just works" really well.
Disclaimer: I haven't been bothered to try KUbuntu. It works fine for me as is, and seeing as Ximian is a big part of my (IT) life, it makes sense to stick with Gnome.
